Stick to afternoon fishing for best results too, as the midday sun tends to draw the fish out to feed more readily. Fish were primarily found in the deep pools and one in the riffles. The stretch through Lyons has recently been renovated with various stream side improvements. You will usually have a lot more company consisting not only of other anglers, but tourist as well. Lake Pueblo offers some of the best walleye fishing in Colorado and is near Colorado Springs and Denver, just a short drive south on I-25 and west of Pueblo off HWY-50. The lower you get in elevation, the more the browns take over, eventually joined by rainbows. They make excellent gifts.
